About the Role

(REF: 314) Female Support Worker – Carmarthenshire

(Exemption is claimed under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9)

Contract: Permanent (subject to successful probationary period)

Location: St Clears – Southwest Carmarthenshire

Working pattern: 12 hours weekly

  • During term time, hours will primarily be worked after school. During school holidays, the 12 weekly hours may be worked as longer daytime shifts, depending on our clients’ activities and support needs. Some flexibility will therefore be required regarding the days and times worked. Our client’s family are keen to work collaboratively with the successful candidate to agree a working pattern that suits both their daughter and her support worker.

Pay per hour: £15 per hour

Closing date: Thursday 5th November 2026 (Please note – we reserve the right to close the advert earlier if we receive a high volume of suitable applicants)

We are seeking a caring, reliable female support worker to assist a 15-year-old girl with Down syndrome after school, on weekends and during school holidays. The role involves providing personal care, promoting independence, supporting social participation, and ensuring safety at the home and community.

The ideal candidate will have experience in disability support, excellent communication skills and a person-centred approach that empowers our client to achieve her goals. However, experience is not essential, what is most important is your ability to engage with our client at her level, build a trusting relationship, and support her, in her best interests.

Our client is fun and chatty, and into spider man, swimming and music, so if you enjoy keeping active, having a laugh, and joining in with her interests, you’ll get along great. She’s also quietly (and playfully) competitive when it comes to games! She also enjoys attending drama club and swimming, and the successful candidate with will support her access and participate in these activities.

A full induction and training will be provided. This role is subject to an Enhanced level DBS.
