Support the ongoing development, maintenance and day-to-day operation of the organisation's technology estate. Working directly with the Technology Lead, the role blends hands-on development with technology operations, MI, service support, system administration and involvement across our growing portals and technology ecosystems.
This is a developing role rather than a finished-developer brief. You should bring a foundation in JavaScript and Node.js, strong problem-solving skills and the ambition to grow your engineering capability. Development will be a substantial part of the role, supported by live projects, structured knowledge transfer, mentoring and increasing responsibility.
Just as important is operational understanding. You will learn how our key systems, data flows and support processes fit together so you can provide dependable cover when the Technology Lead is unavailable - resolving routine issues, maintaining reporting and knowing when to escalate.
What you'll do:
- Build and enhance internal and customer-facing portals, tools and integrations.
- Support JavaScript and Node.js applications, REST APIs, data flows, testing and releases.
- Investigate defects, contribute fixes and maintain clear technical documentation.
TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS:
- Provide first-line triage and practical support across users, systems and access.
- Assist with Microsoft 365 administration, permissions, onboarding, offboarding and routine checks.
- Help monitor incidents, suppliers and operational dependencies through to resolution.
MI, DATA & HEALTH
- Produce recurring MI, operational reporting and product or system health checks.
- Validate data quality, identify exceptions and highlight trends or emerging issues.
- Support Excel, SQL and Power BI based analysis as capability develops.
PRODUCT OWNERSHIP PATHWAY
- Build deep knowledge of a core product, its users, performance and development backlog.
- Progress towards ownership of roadmap, release health, user feedback and improvement activity.
- Provide clear updates on status, risk, dependencies and next actions.
